Before 225 LBS 34% Body Fat
After 175 LBS 17.5% Body Fat

On April first of 2014 I received quite a surprise. After experiencing severe pain in my arms, chest and upper back I was taken to the local emergency room and diagnosed with a heart attack. I found out I had 100% blockage in one of my arteries and 50% blockage in another one. This was a big surprise as I had just had an uneventful cardiac MRI 5 months prior to my heart attack.

What began as a very scary event ended up becoming a catalyst for changes in my lifestyle. Before my heart attack, my eating habits, stress levels and exercise regimen were not what they needed to be. While I knew a lot about healthy eating, I was making too many exceptions. My portions sizes were excessive and I was not making healthy decisions on my snacking. Even though i exercised a couple of times a week before my attack, I found exercising very difficult due to the amount of excess weight i was carrying.

After the attack I gave my lifestyle considerable thought. I realized if I didn't make some radical changes, my quality of life would be severely compromised. The most important change I made was dietary. I greatly minimized my sugar, refined carb and salt intake. I now eat 5 portions of fruit per day, lots of green vegetables, lean proteins and healthy fats like avocados and olive oil. I reduced my overall calorie intake and make sure I am using healthy snacking options so I never feel hungry. By November of 2014, just 7 months later, I had dropped 50 pounds and over 15% body fat.

A critical ingredient in my return to robust health has been my workouts at Get Cut Fitness. The expert knowledge and watchful eyes of the trainers at Get Cut Fitness have made me feel safe and in good hands. I work hard but not beyond my physical capability.

The amazing thing is something as life threatening as a heart attack has led me to a much healthier life and a greater sense of well being. Thank you to the crew at Get Cut Fitness for being an indispensable part of my new lease on life.

Coming back to a fitness plan can be really tough after being sedentary for a while and not watching what you're eating.

It takes a lot of discipline, motivation, and the right tools to get back on track

This is Rene's story.

She is one of our members who dropped 40 pounds after 10 years of going back and forth with her fitness goals.

"For the past 10 years, I have been in a constant merry-go-round, off and on diets, in and out of gyms, never finding my old love of health and fitness.

I grew up being constantly active, played basketball competitively from elementary up through high school, and continued to be active in the gym, never once even thinking about dieting.

That is until I hit my mid 20's.

Those were the years I got married, had a baby boy and took a job where I was very sedentary.

Through life's changes, events, and ups and downs I got into a rut and couldn't get out of it.

I couldn't get past all the different diets, workout styles, and information out there these days which led to me second-guessing everything and never sticking with anything long enough to see something work.

I'm just one of those people who always focus on serving others and putting myself last.

I had exercise as a goal but something would always get in the way of my fitness:

I had tons of stuff on my family and work to-do list, my son would have a temper tantrum when I wanted to go work out, I would make dinner for everyone and by the end of the day I'm exhausted.
I just didn't make time for myself.

Then I started to gain a lot of weight.

I was somewhat aware of the initial 10-pound weight gain but it was slow and I didn't really notice it was happening.

I just kept hiding them with bigger and bigger clothes sizes.

Then people I knew would see me from behind and say something like 'I didn't recognize that was you'.

I thought to myself 'what the heck?' but it dawned on me that they didn't recognize me because I was gaining so much weight.

Before I realized it I was at my heaviest weight ever, which was 2 pounds heavier than the day I gave birth to my son.
OUCH!

Then, two dear friends of mine joined Get Cut Fitness and had amazing results!

I decided to give it a try.

It's been 5 months and now I've also had great results.

The workouts are so fun and ever-changing, and the nutritional guidance has been incredibly insightful.

I love how they really take the brainwork out of everything.

Now I have all the tools I need to get fit.

I simply need to show up and put in the work.

I've lost 40 pounds since I started my weight loss journey and I'm confident I can continue to make progress over these next 6 months.

I'm also happy to say I'm looking forward to doing it!"

charles before and after for siteKathleens' Story

"As I turned 60, I started feeling like time was catching up with me.

My energy level and stamina were at an all-time low and I couldn't keep up with my 7 grandkids.

I was completely unfit.

I had almost no flexibility and had constant pain in my hips.

My blood pressure and blood sugar were super high.
I also knew I needed to lose a lot of weight.

I had recently taken a mortality test, which graded you on how effectively you can get up off the floor.

I took it myself and failed which indicated I had a high morality rate.

I had a feeling if I did not make some major changes as I aged then 'this was it' and knew I needed to make taking care of myself one of my main priorities.

The only problem: I hated going to the gym and was unmotivated to stay with any exercise program.

In the past when I went to 'big box' gyms, everyone was younger and looked better than me and when I tried the aerobics classes they hurt my joints.

I tried to use the treadmill but never got results.

Then my sister told me about Get Cut Fitness.

I made an appointment and met with John a few days later and starting my workouts right away.

I liked the group personal training sessions because I could work at my own level which was good because I really struggled doing even the basic exercises but I kept on going.

There was no pressure to keep up with the other members so I just focused on getting stronger.

I also kept track of everything I ate and within a few months I had dropped about 20 pounds.

I seriously could not believe it.

Now a couple of years later, I've lost almost 40 pounds and have been able to keep it off.

I love my workouts and hate to miss.

I have more energy and I'm able to physically do whatever I want.

I can walk for hours, keep up with my grandkids without getting tired and get up off the floor with ease.

I even got my husband to join the program.

I have never thought of quitting (another miracle) and cannot believe how much younger and stronger I feel."
